Sala 9 / Huellas de Oriente

Xuguang Liu (Beijing, 1958) belongs to a generation of Chinese artists who have undertaken the task of exploring Chinese identity in the 21st through art. His works draw from the minimalist and abstract tradition of the 20th and 21st centuries but their profound meaning transports us to the dawn of Chinese civilisation. Even though it is deeply personal, Liu believes his work is universal and can be understood worldwide.

Zhang Ping (Dandong, 1965) studied traditional Chinese painting techniques as well as Western oil painting. She is a versatile artist who experiments with different styles and techniques, combining Eastern and Western elements in her paintings. Her works on rice paper convey the force of Expressionism through the use of free brushwork and the search for abstraction.

崇尚自然,天人合一。纯净、唯美、任性,也狂放。
I am an advocate for nature and the union between nature and human beings. Nature is pure, beautiful, whimsical and wild. - Zhang Ping

如是我梦,梦若现实,现实入梦,两两参半梦无中.
This is what I think, hope and learn in my dreams: dreams are reality and reality invades the dream world. Dreams and reality form the truth of the universe. - Zheng Xiaohui
