Wang Min (Qingdao, 1956), known by his pseudonym Daozi, is a highly esteemed Chinese poet, painter and academic. He graduated in Fine Arts from Beijing Normal University and is now a professor at the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He is considered the foremost contemporary art critic in the country.

Daozi is one of the leading figures of Christian art in China, having developed his own personal style that he calls ‘Saintism Ink-Wash Painting’. His oeuvre is rooted in European Expressionist tradition. He uses his mastery of western oil and acrylic painting techniques in a quest to revitalise traditional Chinese painting and to create an authentically Chinese Christian art. For Daozi, painting is a meditative act. His work encourages us not to despair along the spiritual path. Despite the dehumanisation of the world and our own faults and sins, we can still achieve the rewards of salvation and hope.
因真理,得自由,㕥蓺術。

Truth leads us to freedom and art
